Cabane Á Sucre

At the end of February, when the sugar maple sap begins to flow, Salmo Secondary School hosted a Cabane à Sucre event. Ms. Rennick's grade 10 Foods class prepared a smorgasbord of delicious maple syrup-themed dishes including tourtière, split pea soup, pancakes, and pudding chômeur. Thanks to PAC funding, all students were invited to share in this delicious meal together over lunch.

Ms. Nokinski's grade 11 and 12 French class created bilingual posters to invite students to participate in an afternoon of fun activities, which were organized with the help of the 11 and 12 leadership class. L'Association des francophones des Kootenays Ouest also came to the school to make and serve "la tire sur neige" (maple taffy on snow). Students were happy to experience (and taste) French-Canadian culture!
