A Look Back at this Year's Dozer Classic
It's a new year, and to ground ourselves to look forward, let's first look back to our very recent, incredibly successful Second Annual Dozer Classic Basketball Tournament!
On December 13 and 14, Salmo Secondary hosted a dynamic two-day basketball tournament that brought teams from all over the Kootenays together for a super fun weekend in Salmo. The entire community rallies around the tournament, and helps with all the logistics.
On the Friday night, the Salmo Valley Youth and Community Centre hosted a spaghetti dinner for all the teams. This year's meal was prepped and cooked by students in the Selkirk College Professional Cook Program - incredibly delicious food! The food prep team included one of our current students enrolled in the Youth Train and Trades program. It was a great night for the athletes from different communities to connect in a different way, other than on the court.
The whole weekend was a huge success, with Salmo making the finals in both the Sr. Girls and Sr. Boys competitions. The stands were packed for both finals - standing room only!
Onward and upward Salmo Secondary. The whole school community and Salmo area is excited to see what the rest of the 2024-2025 school year brings!
