A Portrait of Black History

For Black History Month, and continuing into March, our Grade 7 class chose a person to celebrate that they felt has made a positive contribution to Black history or culture.

After exploring the vibrant portraits of contemporary artist Bisa Butler, students learned how to use contour line drawing, a contrasting color palette and collage to create a portrait of their person.

The portraits are on display throughout our school and include a range of celebrated figures from Martin Luther King Jr. to Beyonce.
